Review of Hillsong United's - In A Valley By The Sea

Hillsong United has at long last released their Live Version album for 2007! I trully enjoyed All of the Above, though it was Studio recorded. So it was with great anticipation when I got my hands on In A Valley By The Sea! (yeah a mouthful!)

I was rather disappointed that it was not a Full CD, it was just an EP*. There was only 7 songs recorded live and .. i was like .. why ler?

Was even more disappointed when i popped the CD into the player and cranked up the volume!!! As typical Hillsong United live recordings, there was lots of Electric Guitar, the beat was rather heavy and "grunchy" and the songs were always a little more heavy than the average Hillsong album! Was disappointed cos i didn't enjoy listening to any of the seven songs being played on the player! I was like .. huh? Is that it? How come nothing catchy wan?

That was almost a week ago. Today ... i decided to re-pop in the CD into the player again!! The song that jumped out at me was Break Free. If you heard the version from All of the Above .. you would have found it mild!! This time it really rocked! Yes yes.. the songs finally started to sink in .. and I started to enjoy the songs.

The other song that I now enjoy is Song 4 .. called Second Chance!! Try and get your hands on this EP CD and listen to them as they enter into WORSHIP with these songs! :)

The CD Tracks are : (Click on the Links to Download Lyrics)

1. You Deserve (Matt Crocker & James Dunlop) - 5:06 (Free Lyrics)
2. Love Enough (Braden Lang & Scott Ligertwood) - 2:57 - (Free Lyrics)
3. Perfect Love (Dylan Thomas) - 4:27 - (Free Lyrics)
4. Second Chance (Braden Lang & Scott Ligertwood) - 5:25 - (Free Lyrics)
5. You Reign (Matt Crocker) - 5:05 - (Free Lyrics)
6. To Know Your Name (Matt Crocker) - 3:15
7. Break Free (Joel Houston, Matt Crocker & Scott Ligertwood) - 3:41

Some additional info that you may now know

The CD was recorded live at summercamp hence it's nickname the "summercamp experiment". This is also the second of the three part global project of Hillsong United. It was officially released at Encounterfest 2007 in October

EP = Extended play (EP) is the name typically given to CDs which contain more music than a single, but are too short to qualify as albums. Usually, an EP has around 10–25 minutes of music, a single has up to 10 minutes and an album has 25–80 minutes.

Explained ... why United's All of the Above is Studio Recorded

Joel Houston explains why Hillsong's United latest album "ALL OF THE ABOVE" is a Studio Recorded album instead of the usual Live Worship album.

Download and Listen to Joel Houston in this Mp3 Recording - Here (3 Mins / 3.6MB)

There can be no doubt that Hillsong United is having an impact across the globe. Their CDs have become standards for many worship leaders and have set trends toward high-energy live worship projects.

So when people heard that United's new release, All of the Above, was a studio project, it raised some questions.

Primarily why fix it if it ain't broke? Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with a studio worship project, but still, people want to know why the change.

So when we had the chance to sit and chat with the Hillsong United team, we asked them the reasoning behind the decision. We were going to write up an article based on their answer, but since we recorded Joel Houston (front man and creative director for Hillsong United) we decided to let you hear it in his own words.

Hillsong Live : Saviour King

Saviour King - Hillsong Live

ONE CHURCH, ONE CITY, ONE SOUND – NEW HILLSONG LIVE ALBUM: ‘SAVIOUR KING’

On Sunday March 18th 2007, after two and a half incredible days of the annual Hillsong Colour Your World Women’s Conference in Sydney, Australia, the congregation of Hillsong Church gathered together as ONE in Sydney’s largest indoor stadium, ‘Acer Arena’, to unite in ONE sound and record the latest Hillsong LIVE worship album. The atmosphere was electric, as the sound of over 13,000 worshippers reverberated throughout the auditorium… real people living real lives… singing, dancing and giving expression to the faithfulness of their God through wholehearted worship, led by Darlene Zschech and the team.

Even before the first note was sung, Darlene declared the truth of Psalm 27:4: “ONE thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the House of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek Him in His temple”.

The new songs included on this album are exactly that – songs with life, energy and, ultimately, heartfelt adoration for our Saviour, Jesus Christ. The title track ‘Saviour King’ has become an anthem in Hillsong Church of late, and was sung at both the opening and the close of the evening. Our prayer is that you would be inspired to worship in spirit and truth as the power of our incredible God is declared through the beautiful songs on this latest Hillsong LIVE album, ‘Saviour King’.

Gateway Worship : Living For You

My Review

I love Gateway Worship. If you close your eyes, you will think

its a band that's so similiar to Hillsong. Gateway Worship is from USA,

and the songs they are playing are anointed, new and really Fresh!

Love their songs, style and technique. Managed to find one of their videos online.

Watch You, You Are God, which is an upbeat song which really declares

who God is! The songs are simple to learn, easy to use in church and small groups.

They are great. Mind you, Gateway Worship is not new, this CD was released

in June 2006, unfortunately I only stumbled upon it in June 2007! Sigh!

But looking forward to their next album!

Listen to their Song samples below, and what a Blessing, Gateway Worship

provides FREE Chords for their songs! How I wish all mega-church

that has Worship CDs, also provide FREE Chords!

Bless them ... and you Be Blessed!!

Gateway Worship CD - Living For You

Launched in 2000, Gateway Church is one of the fastest growing congregations in America today.

Located in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Gateway is a dynamic church characterized by its passion for God and people, life-changing messages, and authentic worship.

Living For You captures the songs and heartbeat of this local congregation. Join Worship Pastor Thomas Miller, the Gateway Worship team, a 150-voice choir, and the people of Gateway Church in this powerful experience.

Sounds like … the stadium-sized contemporary worship of Hillsong Australia, plus the harder edge of United, Planetshakers and Lincoln Brewster.

At a glance … though generally lightweight on theology, this energetic set benefits from contagious melodies, huge choruses and accessibility to spare.

Worship and sing along with You, You are God
Lyrics

VERSE1
Here I am, I've come to find You
Here I am, to see Your grace
To bring to You an offering, I have to ask myself one thing
How can I do anything but praise, I praise

CHORUS
You, You are God, You are Lord
You are all I'm living for
You are King of everything
I want my life to praise You

VERSE 2
Here I am, I've come to thank You
Here I am, a life You've changed
Because You gave Your life for me

You crucified Your Son for me

How can I do anything but praise, I praise

Passion's Hope for the Hokies

Passion continues to reach out to the Hokie community.

First, an additional episode of the Passion '07 podcast is available at iTunes. Hosted by Louie Giglio, the topic of discussion and featured music centers around the recent events that unfolded at that campus in light of Romans 12:21. If you're not on iTunes, you can stream it from this webpage.

Also being made available at no charge is an EP featuring selected Passion recordings highlighted on the podcast.Writes Passion: "Our desire is that these songs will encourage anyone at Tech or around the world who is looking for sure footing in the wake of these tragic events.

They are born out of a belief in a God who comforts and repairs, a Heavenly Father who has paid the highest price to rescue and restore us all. And because of Jesus we believe light can shine in darkness, life can come from death and hope will endure."
